The Pan-African Youth Empowerment Conference is jointly organised by SOS Children’s Villages International and the African Union. The theme of the conference is Youth Empowerment for Employability and Entrepreneurship. It will be held at the African Union Compound from 22-24 August 2017.

The conference will seek to contribute to the realization of SOS Children’s Villages International Strategy 2030, Sustainable Development Goals Agenda 2030 and African Union Agenda 2063 by providing an opportunity for young people to explore opportunities for job creation, entrepreneurship and self-reliance, and for them to be effective contributors to their communities and national development, as well as to be competitive at global level.

The conference will bring together two young people from 47 countries across the continent. Participants will share specific perspectives on youth unemployment and entrepreneurship challenges and opportunities in Africa. Corporates and Development Agencies will take part to exchange with young people to create synergy and bridge the gap.

• Voice of disadvantaged African Youth (VoAY) shared with relevant stakeholders and duty bearers, detailing their concerns and aspirations on employability, entrepreneurship and innovation that lead to decent work and prosperity
• Motivated and encouraged African youth to work and prosper in Africa
